Her stomach kept swelling and she was left in agony before pleading for aid again.

Last week, unable to stand the pain any more, she went to Adarsh hospital.

Doctors decided to investigate and remove the cause of the pain.

They began what would end up being a five-hour operation, quickly finding a massive tumour.

A cancerous mass, which weighed 20kg, had been growing in her stomach.

The tumour, the same weight as four gallons of paint, had been causing her to be in great pain.

Dr Rajul Abhishek, who helped to perform the operation, said it was a rare primary peritoneal carcinoma cancer tumour.

The patient is said to be recovering after the operation.

Peritoneal cancer is a rare cancer which develops in a thin layer of tissue that lines the abdomen and also covers the uterus, bladder, and rectum.

Symptoms of this cancer can include:

a long-lasting bloated or swollen tummyloss of appetitefeeling full quickly when you eatpain in the lower tummy area or backpassing urine more often than usualpassing urine more urgently (feeling like you can’t hold on)

Due to the cancer being so rare, experts don’t know a great deal about the risk factors that may increase chances of it developing.

But it is thought they could be similar to those for ovarian cancer.
