Eugenie Bouchard Congratulates the Canadian Team for Their Phenomenal Performance to Reach the Finals of the Billie Jean King Cup
Being out of the tour for more than a year, Eugenie Bouchard missed the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup. Struggling to make a comeback now, the former World No. 5 was once one of the most dominant players in the Canadian squad. Even though the 28-year-old missed out on the 2022 edition of the cup, she didn’t fail to congratulate her national team for reaching the final rounds.

Two days ago, the Canadian team beat Latvia 4-0 in the qualifiers to book a place in the Billie Jean King Cup finals scheduled in November. Playing at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, the Canadian team, under the captainship of Heidi El Tabakh, won three singles and one doubles clash to clinch the victory.
Learning about their victory, Bouchard, who herself has been a 5-time Billie Jean King Cup player congratulated her home team for their memorable victory. The former Wimbledon finalist took to her Instagram and uploaded a story. In the story, she shared the post of the official Instagram handle of the Billie Jean King Cup. The original post was a congratulatory post by the Cup. The post was captioned, “Welcome back to the Finals, Canada!.”

Taking to her Instagram, Bouchard re-shared the post, captioning it, “Yay Girls!!!”
Canada kicked off their 2022 Billie Jean King Cup campaign with Leylah Fernandez beating Darja Semenistaja in straight sets. In the second match, Canada’s Rebecca Marino had to dig deep to edge past Daniela Vismane in three sets.
Contiunuing her good run, Leylah Fernandez faced no difficulty in outplaying Daniela Vismane in the third match. With an unassailable 3-0 lead, Canada next competed in doubles. However, Latavia’s doubles pair were no match for the Canadian pair as team Canada comleted a comprehensive victory.

The 28-year-old Canadian has been on the sidelines since last March. However, she is hoping for a comeback on the tour and has also begun her training to sharpen her skills ahead of her return. A few weeks back, she played some exhibition matches alongside Alison Riske and Sofia Kenin. However, she is yet to make an official announcement about her comeback.
