David Benavidez Sends a Bold Message to Canelo Alvarez Following Charlo Altercation

David Benavidez is eager to share the ring with Canelo Alvarez. ‘El Bandera Roja’, who has been pushing for this match, sent out a chilling warning. Although his message was strictly directed to Mexican Phenom, Benavidez’s words are for anyone who ever dares stand in his way.

On April 16th, when Errol Spence Jr. locked hands with Yordenis Ugas inside the AT&T Stadium, Benavidez ran into an unexpected altercation with Jermall Charlo.

Later that night, in an interview with Radio Rahim, the superstar said, “I would definitely win. Everybody I’d go against, I’d win.”

This statement of intent exhibits the youngster’s confidence, but is he truly worthy of a bout against the mighty superstar?

Does David Benavidez truly deserve a fight against Canelo Alvarez?

Benavidez became a world champion at the young age of 20. And he is, according to the beliefs of many, a future Hall of Famer with the potential to do some serious damage. The 6’2″ boxer is extremely smart and vicious inside the ring.

Looking at his career history, one can best understand the fight he can bring to the Mexican Alvarez. Benavidez, who turned pro at only 16, holds a professional record of 25 wins and 0 losses. In addition, 22, which is 88% of his victories, have come via knockout.

His relentless head-and-body-work, as shown in the Cobbs, Williams, and Douglin fights, exhibits his impressive gas tank and power. Looking at this, if one thought Benavidez equaled only power and stamina, they would be mistaken.

In the Medina fight, during the end of round 4, ‘El Bandera Roja’ hit the former with an insane seven-punch combination. Doing so, he demonstrated not only the ability to land from a wide range of angles but also some busy and fast hands.

Most of the fight that he brings results from his tall physique. It allows him to avoid shots despite standing closer to his opponents. Being the taller person inside, Benavidez can effortlessly allow himself to throw significant round punches, both to the head and the body. This proves that he has the ability to take the fight to Canelo.

However, Canelo Alvarez is adept at fighting opponents of all types and will be one to test Benavidez’s ability to avoid shots. This would be a dream fight and fans are eager for it, especially after the youngster’s latest comments.
