Loose Women’s Carol McGiffin believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s notorious move to America has ‘created a whirlwind.’

Relations between senior members of the Royal family and the Sussexes have been fraught since the pair were stripped from their titles, and things escalated further after the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

According to recent reports, Harry and Meghan have been invited to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to celebrate Her Majesty’s historic reign which will take place on June 2.

During Tuesday’s edition of the daytime programme, presenters Frankie Bridge, Christine Lampard, Kelle Bryan, and Carol discussed the subject in depth, and while the majority thought the public reunion would be a good thing – broadcaster Carol disagreed.

Reflecting on their shocking tell-all with the American host, she said: ‘I still think that it was a terrible betrayal, and it’s good of the Queen to just let it go and not make a big deal.

‘I think if everybody stopped making a big deal out of those two they could just come over, go on the balcony, do the appearance and everyone would go “oh look it’s Harry and Meghan.”‘

She continued: ‘They’ve created this kind of whirlwind around them, and everything they do now becomes massive news. And it does overshadow events up to a point, and it’s wrong.’

Kelle, who held an opposing view challenged Carol and said: ‘They wanted the establishment to look at how they do things, how they control people’s lives and the mistakes happening within their family.’

‘They didn’t have to though, did they,’ Carol retorted. ‘They said they wanted privacy and they haven’t stopped talking about it since. Give it a rest!’

The question of whether Harry and Meghan will be present for the big celebration has been the source of speculation after they did not attend a memorial service to honour Prince Philip last month.

During this year’s Invictus Games, the couple were surrounded by a camera crew filming a Netflix documentary series as part of their company Archewell’s deal.
