‘Lot of Questions’- Michael Jordan’s Former Teammate Points Out Why LeBron James and Lakers Will Face a Coaching Issue

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a dismal regular season that capped off with the team’s failure to qualify for the playoffs. LeBron James, being the star player of the team, has attracted criticism from both the media and the fans. Their main issue now is to find a suitable head coach for the future after firing Frank Vogel. Many have already opted out of the race due to how the organization is being perceived by the larger community. The Lakers are going to face an off-season where they have to make huge decisions.

Many have weighed on this topic. The latest one to do that is Michael Jordan’s former teammate in the Chicago Bulls, B.J Armstrong. The former NBA All-Star came on Rich Eisen’s show and expressed his views about this situation. He said,” I don’t think they’ll have a hiccup getting a top-notch coach…they’ll have a hiccup figuring out the length the coach is going to want once he comes to LA“. Armstrong mentions LeBron’s contract length as an example.

He adds, ” There are a lot of questions here. Are we all in for the next three to four years or are we half way in. Is this a two year run?“.Armstrong mentions that they need a coach who can lead them and that there will be no difficulty in getting one. He says, ” I think they will have a problem getting everyone lined up to where they all have all the same expectations for that length of time“. His advise was simple; to get an experienced coach who has to be given time to lead this team.

LeBron James, as said above, has attracted a lot of criticism from many quarters. Many pundits have accused him of using his influence to make this team circumvent the management and coach.

James has had issues with coaches before. According to reports, he had marginalized then Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt. There were eyewitness accounts of him essentially calling timeouts and substitutions. His issues with Mike Brian are well known. There were admissions by Heats limited owner Raanan Katz that point to him even trying to fire Heat coach Erik Spoelstra but they were retracted later on.

Will the Lakers eventually get a good coach to lead them? Will LeBron himself become the coach? The second option, after all, might be very much possible as well.
