“We Taught Them a Lot”: Triple H Opens Up on WWE Talent Leaving for AEW
The 14-time World Champion Triple H is one of the most selfless WWE Superstar. Apart from his own wrestling career, Triple H has been a master of many young padawans. Paul Levesque, aka Triple H, has brought young amateur wrestlers into his brainchild NXT brand and helped them climb the ladder to the WWE main roster.
‘The Game’ Triple H has significantly influenced the wrestling careers of the NXT superstars. The Game took time away from the company because of a reported cardiac event.
Meanwhile, many of Levesques’ students have been released from the company. In addition, Triple H’s NXT superstars have jumped ship to the rival wrestling promotion AEW.
Was Triple H involved in the release of the former NXT Superstars?
Former WWE superstars such as Adam Cole, Andrade El Idolo, Keith Lee, and others were the padawans of Triple H in NXT. Triple H recently sat down in an unplugged interview with The Athletic and noted his feelings about his students who signed with AEW.
Triple H said, “I like all those guys. They helped us get where we needed to get, and I’m thankful for it. The truth is there was a period of time where we were trying to build NXT. We built NXT. Then we were trying to build a brand that could get a television show and sustain it.”
“All those names helped us get there. Whether anybody believed or not, they fit on “Raw” or “SmackDown.” Those aren’t necessarily my decisions solely, and they’re Vince’s (McMahon) decisions and fans’ decisions; and then, can we continue to do business with them?” Levesque added.
The King of Kings has no hard feelings for the former WWE superstars. According to The Game, the current AEW stars have helped NXT grow as a brand. But, as far as concerned about getting released from the WWE, that decision lies under WWE Boss Vince McMahon.

Genuine emotions of The Game towards his former students
Triple H stated if the fans and Mr. McMahon wished the NXT superstars to stay, he would have continued doing business with them. Even though the former NXT superstars have left the company, Triple H makes sure to be in touch with them.
The Game believes that these wrestlers come to WWE as rookies who trained and picked up the knowledge to succeed somewhere else.
“If they have great gigs, I’m happy for them. I stay in touch with almost all of them. I like to think they came into us here, we taught them a lot, got them to (a higher level) where they learned how to do television, how to be professionals, and all that to be successful there,” The Game stated.
Triple H continued to thank the above-mentioned former NXT Superstars for their time in the company. The Game believes even if NXT superstars have joined the rival company; they are looking for growth in the wrestling industry. Paul Levesque poured his heart, appreciated former NXT superstars, and wished them luck for their future endeavors.
The Game recently announced his retirement from the in-ring competition because his heart conditions won’t allow him to wrestle again. But Levesque still serves as the head of Global Talent Strategy & Development.
With being able to recruit new talents on board, let’s hope Triple H brings incredible wrestlers to join the WWE, something which he has done perfectly to date.
