Kyrie Irving Getting Fined A Hefty Amount For Using Profanity Against Celtics Fans Sends NBA Twitter In A Frenzy

Game 1 between the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets got off to a flying start. Jayson Tatum won the game on a buzzer-beater in what was a close contest. Nets star Kyrie Irving had 39, but he was also greeted with extreme hostility and boos. Irving also responded to fans for showing signs and using profanities against them.

The NBA fined Kyrie Irving $50,000 for his actions. Kyrie is not well received in Boston even though he played for them for two years. It’s maybe because Irving had told that he would re-sign with the Celtics and he left them to join the Brooklyn Nets. When Irving told them he would re-sign, the Celtics were one of the favorites.

But their season unraveled in spectacular fashion and Kyrie left at the end of the year. And the fans didn’t appreciate that.

NBA Twitter goes nuts after Kyrie Irving is fined for flipping off fans

The NBA fans went nuts when they heard Kyrie was fined for his actions. Some felt it was too lenient while the fine baffled others. Here are the best reactions:

My kids saw him do this and are still traumatized. Should be 500,000

But fans can do whatever they want? L

Bet Kyrie believes it was worth it. Large fine is likely to encourage even more abuse in Boston unless there is punishment for fans–ejection from arena & permanent bar.

He could have pointed out the fan(s) and the refs would have had them removed. What he did was immature.

Kyrie showing his true character. So glad he left Boston, as fans we should honestly realize Kyrie leaving WAS THE BEST THING FOR THE @celtics! With #TwoJs #DWhite #MahcusSmaht #TimeLord our future looks great. Look at the growth this season, imagine what it looks like in 2 yrs?

why? what happened? did they run over each other?

— Brother Andrej (@BrotherAndrej) April 19, 2022

Were the massholes fined for middle finger gestures as well as profane language?

— SunshineYinzer (@SunshineYinzer) April 19, 2022

Okay let me get this straight: fans can play a good amount of money for court-side seats and heckle players. But a NBA player can’t retaliate for being heckled by salty fans? make it make sense @NBA

Incase anyone wonders why the fine is too low, if NBA gives a player more than 50k usd fine, they can go an appeal for it which can get the player association involved. Therefore the maximum penalty that they can give is 50k without any objection. There you have it.

Something tells me Kyrie will gladly do it again and continue to give back the same energy #DEEZNETS

The Nets will look to bounce back in game 2

The Nets will look to bounce back after a disappointing loss in Game 1. After coming back from being down by 15, the Nets would have been disheartened to lose on a buzzer-beater.

Irving will look to continue his strong showing but he will hope his partner in crime, Kevin Durant steps up. Durant was held to 23 points on 37.5% shooting. The Celtics defended him well but Durant will look to come back stronger in game 2.

Jayson Tatum will look to build on his buzzer-beater and continue his strong start to the series. Tatum had 31 points and 8 assists while Al Horford poured in 20 points and 15 rebounds. They will hope that Jaylen Brown can also join the party. The Nets cannot afford another setback as they will be down 0-2.

They have an experienced squad, and they will be looking to even the series up. We can expect another close game between the two teams but Boston will have the confidence and they will have support of their home crowd.
