PFL Intends To Capture Wider Audience After Deal With Mola TV
Over the last few months, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) has ramped up its efforts for international growth, recently securing several major partnerships with broadcasters all over the world.
This comes in time for the start of their 2022 season, which the league expects to be their biggest season yet.
In just four years of existence, the USA-based league has already transformed itself into one of the fastest-growing and innovative sports league in the world. Not only that, but they have also established themselves – along with the UFC, ONE Championship, Bellator MMA and others – as the top players in today’s highly aggressive mixed martial arts industry.
Even with their continued success, the PFL constantly looks for ways to get even bigger, and one of those ways – as mentioned earlier – is by a heightened effort toward global expansion.
Their wide partnerships
Following the conclusion of the widely successful 2021 season, the league wasted little time in securing partnerships with international broadcasters and platforms. Just this year, the PFL has already inked deals with RMC Sport in France, Fighting.DE in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, Torneos in Latin America (via DirecTV), Sky in New Zealand, MBC Group in the Middle East and North Africa, Mola TV in Southeast Asia and Italy, and ESPN for Sub-Saharan Africa.

The partnership with Mola TV, in particular, is crucial because it includes key Southeast Asia markets like Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. This puts them in direct competition with other promotions in the region like UFC and ONE Championship. Currently being broadcast to over 160-plus countries worldwide, the PFL is indeed a global platform.

With all the partnerships that the PFL has secured throughout the years, it’s clear that the product is something that resonates with a wide audience. The biggest reason, being that the PFL’s unique league format is something that fans all over the world can appreciate.

The PFL’s league is similar to major sports such as basketball and football. Fighters compete in an elimination round, playoffs, and finals, with the winner being named PFL champion and taking home a million-dollar purse.

“MMA is now really taking off as a mass sport and that’s an exciting time.” said PFL chairman and co-founder Donn Davis in an interview with Sports Business Journal.
The PFL has also assembled a star-studded roster of fighters from over 25 countries all over the world, including the likes of Kayla Harrison, Ray Cooper III, Anthony Pettis, Rory MacDonald, and Claressa Shields.
As the PFL heads into their so-called biggest season yet, expect the league to lock up even more international partnerships ahead.
