Maria Sharapova had a glittering start in tennis. Her career can be divided into two phases. Further, playing in just her second Wimbledon Championships in 2004, Sharapova went on to win her maiden Grand Slam title. She defeated her long-time, on-court rival, Serena Williams, in the summit clash of that tournament to lift the trophy.
Subsequently, she had a consistent run in other big tournaments. Further, she made it to the top of the women’s singles rankings, leaving behind the likes of Serena and Venus Williams. She went on to lift five Grand Slam titles before her shoulder injury affected her illustrious career.
After her first-round exit at the Australian Open in 2020, Sharapova announced her shock retirement from tennis. Later, in the same year, she got engaged to Alexander Gilkes. Recently, she announced the great news on her 35th birthday.

The five-time Grand Slam champion took to Instagram to inform her fans that she is expecting her first child. Sharing a beautiful picture, she wrote, “Precious beginnings!!! Eating birthday cake for two has always been my specialty.”
Further, since her retirement in 2020, Sharapova has focused on her business ventures. Along with her exploits on the tennis court, she is also a successful businesswoman. She is a proud owner of her high-end candy brand, Sugarpova. The company was founded in 2012 and has added various products to its growing list of portfolios over the years.

Recently, a tech wellness brand, Therabody appointed Sharapova as their Brand Ambassador.
