28-year-old Canadian tennis star, Eugenie Bouchard has been out of the tennis court since March last year. After suffering a shoulder injury, she had to undergo surgery in June 2021. Since then, she hasn’t played any professional matches on the WTA tour. Recently, in a podcast, she talked about her potential comeback at the French Open this year.

Eugenie Bouchard is eying a comeback at the French Open
The 2014 Wimbledon finalist, Genie Bouchard, recently appeared as a special guest in the ‘Pardon My Take’ podcast. In that podcast interview, she talked about playing in the French Open this year in May.
“So, I am rehabbing from my shoulder surgery that I had last June, and the goal is to be playing tournaments very soon. I’m hoping for the French Open in a month. So, and then after that’s Wimbledon, which is like my favorite tournament. So, I’m gearing up for that,” Genie revealed on that podcast.

Notably, Genie reached the semi-final of the 2014 French Open. Then, in the very next Grand Slam tournament, i.e. Wimbledon, the Canadian tennis player shocked everyone by reaching the final. Unfortunately, she lost in the final against Petra Kvitova.
Bouchard is gearing up to play a few tournaments before the French Open
Last month, Bouchard played a few exhibition matches against some of the American tennis stars, like Sofia Kenin and Alison Riske. Later, she wanted to play in the Palm Harbour Tennis Tournament and Billie Jean King Cup. However, she was still recovering from that shoulder surgery, which is taking its time to heal completely.
Meanwhile, she has been enjoying some time off the court. Recently, she went to see the Coachella. Apart from that, she usually stays pretty active on social media, especially on Instagram. Last year in December, she posted about hitting a tennis ball in months for the very first time.
Recently, she shared some stories on Instagram about practicing on a clay tennis court. It’s pretty certain that she is making her comeback on clay. We could see her playing a few tournaments before her eventual comeback in Paris. However, with her current ranking, she may need a wild card to get an entry in the main draw.
