I was on First Dates – it took them a whole year to find a match for me and I made a BIG mistake when I arrived

FIRST Dates star Jsky shared his journey to self-love and finding “the one” after appearing on the Channel 4 show.

The 32-year-old was contacted by First Dates on social media to be on the dating show.

They were intrigued by him as he had been single all his life.

He had a loss of confidence after suffering a cut to his head, having had his drink spiked, and was resigned to the idea that he would never find love.

Despite stating he was gay, he was open to falling in love with anyone.

But Jsky didn’t get off to the best start as he mistakenly thought host and Frenchman Fred Sirieix was his date.

He admitted: “I’d never seen an episode before and when I walked in I thought Fred was my date. I was buzzing, thinking ‘this is a great show.’”

He was soon matched with Alex Collins, a transgender woman from Essex.

Jsky revealed: “Appearing on First Dates really helped me to start to truly love myself.”

Today, Jsky remains friends with Alex but denies there is a romantic connection.

He is currently in a relationship which he believes is “the one.”

He said: “This was one of the first ever trans/gay reality TV dates on prime-time television and it received around two million viewers.

“For almost a year I would have people asking me if I was still dating Alex from my episode and I even feature in the First Dates book as one of the most popular dates.

“Although I didn’t find love on the show, I had a wonderful experience which gave me to confidence to date again.”

Jsky went on to inspire body confidence on the Channel Four show Naked Beach and is a presenter on BBC Radio Manchester.
