‘Iron’ Mike Tyson Fails to Beat Himself in a Nintendo Classic Despite His Best Efforts

Mike Tyson is a living legend and there’s no denying about this fact. The former professional boxer, also known as Kid Dynamite and Iron Mike, is known as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. However, sometimes even the best people can get outperformed especially when it comes to the aspect of video games. And that, too, being from none other than Nintendo.

Such an incident happened with Mike Tyson several years ago, when he visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The latter asked him to try out a Nintendo classic titled Punch-Out!!, which was based on the boxer himself. Unfortunately, this experience didn’t go down as per the legend’s expectations to say the least.

When Mike Tyson tried to beat himself in Nintendo’s Punch-Out!!

Punch-Out! is a 1987 game developed and published by Nintendo. Originally, it made its debut for the Nintendo Entertainment System and was part of the Punch-Out!! franchise. It was basically an adaptation of an arcade game from 1983, that had a similar name.

It’s most notably known as a Mike Tyson game because it’s actually based on the undisputed world heavyweight champion himself. Players used to fight the boxer in the final match since he was the main boss. Additionally, Punch-Out!! is even regarded as one of the best boxing games of all time.

Meanwhile, Mike Tyson witnessed this video game during an interaction with Jimmy Fallon on his Tonight Show. While the two were talking, Jimmy persuaded the legend to play against his own self in the Nintendo title.

Mike Tyson was confident that he would emerge as the champion, even if it meant going head-to-head against his virtual counterpart.

However, things didn’t turn out as expected for the boxer. As you can see above, he was knocked out by Mike Tyson from Punch-Out!!

But it was still a win-win situation for the Iron Mike as it was basically him defeating himself. All things considered, it was an extremely enjoyable experience for him as he was into the fight throughout the entire round before eventually losing.
