“Mick Just Doesn’t Care” – Kevin Magnussen Makes Strong Schumacher Claim in the Midst of ‘Too Proud’ F1 Drivers

Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher are pairing up for the first time in F1 for Haas this season. The Danish driver returned to the team at the start of the season unexpectedly. During his visit to Beyond the Grid podcast, Magnussen revealed he gets on very well with the young German driver and also pointed out a very special quality about him.

Schumacher has been with the team since the beginning of the 2021 season and he has settled really well with Haas. He is known to be a genuinely nice person on and off the track and does not mince his words.

Kevin mentioned Mick is very much interested in learning more and more about the sport. But there is one quality of his teammate that caught him out.

Kevin Magnussen comments on his working relationship with Mick Schumacher

In Formula One, your teammate is your number one competition in the sport. He’s the first point of reference and every driver wants to beat his teammate when they go out on track. This means that sometimes teammates often tend to hide stuff from each other so that the other person cannot use that as a weakness.

But Kevin mentioned Mick was very open with him and likes to learn from his experience. “He’s a super nice guy, very friendly, very polite, and he’s good with everyone, everyone loves him. He is also very curious and asks a lot of questions. This kind of communication between teammates is rare in Formula 1,” said Magnussen.

“Some drivers are too proud, some do not want to share information, and some are afraid to show weakness. However, Mick doesn’t even care. He just wants to learn,” concluded the Haas driver.

It is indeed very refreshing to see drivers complementing each other off the racetrack. Schumacher does not seem like a guy who will create problems in the team and with his teammate in Formula One.

Kevin has outperformed his teammate twice in the first 3 races of the 2022 season. But it would be interesting to see if the young German can challenge the experienced Danish driver in their first season as teammates.
