Report: Charles Leclerc Attempted to Chase Down the Watch Thieves With His Ferrari in Italy
Championship leader Charles Leclerc got robbed a few days back in Italy. The Ferrari driver and his friends, stopped for a group photo; requested by a couple of fans in the Tuscan city of Viareggio. But right then someone stole his €300,000 Richard Mille watch, which was custom-made for him by the company.
Charles is the second driver on the grid whose watch has been stolen by someone recently. Last year after he was coming from Wembley Stadium, McLaren driver Lando Norris too had the misfortune of getting his watch stolen by someone. The incident left Norris visibly distraught, and he was unable to speak about the incident for quite some time.
Q: “Someone stole your expensive watch. Will you be on time at Imola?”
Charles: “Unfortunately it hasn’t been a great experience, but it‘s like this. But yes, I will try to be on time at Imola.”

Huffington Post reported that the Ferrari driver chased down the thieves but was unsuccessful in his quest. There is currently an investigation going on regarding the incident.

Charles recently arrived in Imola ahead of the race weekend when someone asked him about the burglary. The Monegasque driver quietly mentioned, “Unfortunately, it hasn’t been a great experience, but it’s like this. But yes, I will try to be on time at Imola,” said Charles.
How did the incident took place involving Charles Leclerc?
As reported by ESPN, the Ferrari driver was taking a walk with his friends in an area of Tuscany known as Via Salvatori. It was then that someone spotted him and asked for a group photograph with some other fans.
We have always known Charles for being very good with his fans and always obliges when someone asks for an autograph or picture with him. He did so once again, but this time, someone stole his watch without him even noticing.

Leclerc’s trainer, Ferrari, was not happy with the whole incident and blasted the Via Salvatori cooperation for the poor lighting in the area.
“Via Salvatori has been completely in the dark for months. We have been reporting this for months. Well, yesterday evening in Via Salvatori, they have robbed us. Think of arranging the lamps sooner or later? Asking for a friend,” said Charles’ trainer.

It would be interesting to see how the whole incident affects the championship leader going forward. But he would look to forget the whole situation as soon as possible before hitting the track in Imola. Hopefully, we will see a rejuvenated Charles Leclerc at the track, who is full of optimism before the race.
