Tom Brady Finally Opens Up on What Made Him Un-Retire to Play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After ending a brief stint of 40 days away from the field, Tom Brady announced that he was making a comeback. However, the exact reason behind his decision was unclear, until this Monday, when Brady opened up in front of the media.

The legendary quarterback spoke to ESPN just a day before launching his new golf collection through BRADY. It seems the veteran has never lost his flair and competitiveness to win games. However, he also mentioned that his career is about to end soon.

What was the reason behind Tom Brady coming out of retirement?

It was an extreme shocker for the fans when the seven-time Super Bowl Champion announced his retirement on Feb 1. Even though it happened to be an unexpected move from his side, fans were still hopeful about his comeback. While talking to ESPN, Brady mentioned that the bitter loss, he had against the Los Angeles Rams motivated him to get back to the field.

“At the end of the day, I just love the competition on the field. And last year was a very bitter ending to a season, and we’ve got to make a lot of corrections and try to improve and put ourselves in a better position to succeed moving forward.” Brady said to the media outlet.

In 2021, the journey of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended on a bitter note after losing the match 30-27 to the reigning Super Bowl Champions.

These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. Indeed, this might be the reason why Brady had mentioned “unfinished business” in his unretirement note on Instagram. After amassing six Super Bowl titles and playing for 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, Brady got acquired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. He was signed for a two-year, $50 million contract. However, he was granted a contract extension later, adding more than $25 million to his salary cap.

The 44-year-old also mentioned that he developed impeccable relationships within the Buccaneers, and that was among the reasons why he felt the job was left unfinished. However, the quarterback didn’t say anything related to Bruce Arians stepping away from the coaching job or Todd Bowles securing a new role. Also, the Buccaneers were the only team owning rights over him. So the team wasn’t willing to release him anytime soon.

Brady confirms that his retirement days are not too long

It seems the quarterback wants to add one more Super Bowl title to the list of his achievements. “I know I don’t have a lot left, I do,” said Brady, who turns 45 on Aug. 3. “I know I’m at the end of my career. I wish you could go on forever, but it’s just not and football comes at too high a cost now. My kids are getting older, and it’s just harder and harder to miss these things.”

However, the veteran vowed to give his teammates and the franchise an incredible opportunity. A chance to accomplish “something” that they all would be proud of. Recently a documentary was released on Tom Brady’s life, “Man in the Arena: Tom Brady.” It’s the 10th and the final episode got aired on Monday.

Certainly, Tom Brady is eying for a Super Bowl ring in the upcoming season and wind up his career on a high note.
