Barack Obama’s Daughter’s New Boyfriend Has an Interesting Connection to NBA Legend Chris Paul
Sometimes, celebrity coincidences can connect any two people. Often, it might be two celebrities or athletes you least expect to be connected. This time, the connection seems to be between NBA star Chris Paul, and Sasha Obama’s apparent boyfriend Clifton Powell Jr.
While Powell and Paul don’t have a direct connection at all, there is a surprise element present in their existing connection.
Powell, who is apparently the son of a Hollywood actor himself, is currently working as a writer and director. Of course, the one thing connecting him and Paul is basketball. The connection between the two, however, is certainly unique.
How is Chris Paul connected to Obama’s daughter?
To those unaware, Powell used to play college basketball when he was with the University of California. Graduating in 2015, the connection with Paul lies in his nickname.
As per the website bio, Powell was also nicknamed CP3. They added that while he often goes by Cliff; he was given the nickname CP3.
Of course, Paul’s nickname CP3 is not hidden from any NBA fan. The nickname for this NBA icon has been around since before his NBA days and is extremely significant. Since his father and brother have the same initials, Paul ended up sticking to CP3. The name is extremely synonymous with the Suns star and has also become the name of his organization.

As per his college site, Powell averaged 11.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. While he earned a name exactly similar to that of Paul, his favorite NBA team seems to be the Los Angeles Clippers. In fact, his favorite moment seems to be an Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan moment.

That being said, it seems like Powell is working as a writer and director now. Though his basketball days seem to be over, Powell and Paul will always continue to share an interesting connection.
Furthermore, the Phoenix Suns are leading 2-1 against the New Orleans Pelicans in Round 1, hoping to reach the next series.
