Bubba Wallace Issues a Hilarious Response to Hendrick Motorsports Ace William Byron’s Tandem Drafting Idea
Ahead of the race at Talladega Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports ace William Byron had suggested that he expects tandem drafting during the race considering what happened at the Daytona 500. However, last year’s Talladega winner, Bubba Wallace, didn’t think so.
Not at all.
In a pre-race interview, Byron’s suggestion was thrown at the 23XI Racing driver as he was asked to give his opinion on the expected tandem drafting.
“Beats me. They must have some cheated up s**t, I don’t know,” Wallace joked.
He then followed it up by a long pause of thinking, and thinking, and thinking, before he finally conceded – “Nah. Nah. Next.”
Wallace added, “I’m trying to figure out when did we do that at Daytona? I don’t know. He hands around Jeff (Gordon) too much, I guess.”
Bubba Wallace feels being in the eye of the storm isn’t worth it during races
Ahead of his return to Talladega Superspeedway, Bubba Wallace opened up on what he thinks is the ideal way to approach and position himself during a race.
“We don’t need to be in the eye of the storm to get our spots back because it’s not worth it,” he said. “We’d like to get stage points, but at the end of the day, getting a race win is the most important thing for us.”

The 23XI Racing driver added that him not being in the contention to win the race for the better part of it, and then suddenly coming through the field to be a contender seems to be their trend.
“You’ll see us start midpack, drive up to the lead, go to the back, run around a little bit, and not be talked about until the last stage, and then we’re there,” Wallace continued.
“We’ve just got to continue to do that.”
