During the post-fight conference, Fury touches upon many a thing. He talks about his performance, what makes him the best ever, and what he will do next now that the Whyte fight is finally over. You know, ten years ago I couldn’t sell ten-thousand tickets. Even when I went to Germany, I was the underdog to fight Klitschko in his hometown. I’ve always been like Marvin Hagler, road warrior. I’ve been the underdog my whole life, I’m still the underdog. Look at me. I’m fat as anything, but your fat boy can fight,” said Fury.

“No matter how many times people put you down or ride you off in life, never pay attention to it because it doesn’t mean anything because I’ve proved as just a normal-looking man. Anything is possible, no matter how dark the place you’re in,” he added.

The words that really stand out are the ones that follow:

Doesn’t get any darker than committing suicide and I was there. To come back and to lose all that weight and get back mentally. You should never let anybody crush your dreams because anything is possible and I’m proof that that is true.”

The mental fortitude required to come out of such a dark hole makes Fury one of the best fighters in the world. The man has literally stared into the abyss and come out stronger than ever.
