NASCAR Fans React as Massive ARCA Crash at Talladega Sends a Car Airborne

NASCAR weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway has finally kicked off. The ARCA Menards Series has started the show, and it is safe to say that proceedings commenced with a bang. As is the usual case in stock car racing, there was a massive accident with multiple cars crashing out. The incident occurred with 28 laps to go, just as the pack raced across the front stretch.

As it happened, the #10 car of Richard Garvie was sent airborne briefly, before gravity made itself known. Several other cars spun out, including the #7 of Eric Caudell. That was when Caudell received the scare of his life when the #69 of Scott Melton slammed into his car.

The whole thing started when Garvie spun Toni Breidinger and that triggered the multi-car crash.

ARCA shouldn’t be anywhere near Talladega.

There, I said it. https://t.co/Uyz7Ov1h2i

Need to be a bit more stringent on who gets to run these races. Glad Scott Melton is awake and alert, but very scary and preventable stuff here. #ARCA https://t.co/WSEGDDxV5T

Breidinger’s out-of-control car spun out the #03 car of Josh White as well. Meanwhile, the #7 of Caudell managed to avoid most of the wreck, but spun in the process. As he slid onto the track, the #69 of Melton speared into his car at high speed. After the incident on the track, Melton was taken to the hospital for a check-up.

Many NASCAR fans were horrified at the scene of the accident

Of course, many fans found the crash pretty scary and prayed that everyone came out unscathed. Meanwhile, there were some who noted that even though Melton was one of the victims, he did not slow down at all. A lot of them attributed it to the ARCA brakes being extremely poor.

ARCA: we don’t use breaks we just go full throttle into accidents https://t.co/qT0wCmloih

Glad everyone is ok. That was https://t.co/ngPdssfCT4

Hope Scott Melton is ok, but I have absolutely no idea what he was doing there. Why are you going through a fresh accident scene that quickly? Caution was out, buddy.#GeneralTire200 https://t.co/wXIcsZjmHS

69 car with the #nice example of ARCA brakes at 28 seconds. My man forgot he wasn’t in @iRacing https://t.co/TH3BXoLkqz

Someone take Scott Melton’s license. Jeez… https://t.co/ZFDHA5AWaX

Nice to know ARCA brakes are still a thing https://t.co/AI6hC2wdFN

Although the fans were sympathetic to the fact that it was a bad crash, they still felt that he was to blame. Others firmly believed that since the ARCA brakes were next to useless, Melton was helpless. One thing is for sure, we hope that he has a speedy recovery, and the other drivers are alright.
