WATCH: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Finishes Second in Her Season Debut; 28-Year-Old Clinches First Place
Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is not just a gifted runner. Considered being one of the best of the generation, she is often called the ‘queen of the track.’ While she may not get the credit for it, Shelly-Ann is much more talented than known to people.
The former Olympic champion started her season with an opening race at the ‘Velocity Fest 11’ held in her hometown in Jamaica.

The Jamaican is currently the second-fastest woman alive with a personal best of 10.60s in the 100m category. At 35, she has won 3 Olympic golds, 4 Olympic silvers, 1 Olympic bronze medal, and 9 world championship titles.
The iconic sprinter has opened her new season with a second-place finish at the Velocity Fest 11. Racing at her home track, Fraser-Pryce had a strong start. She led the race for the first 170m but slowed down for some reason. Bahamas’ Anthonique Strachan took advantage of this as she passed the Jamaican to record a win. Having done this, Strachan also recorded her season’s best of 22.55seconds in the 200m category.

Natasha Morrison of Jamaica finished third with a time of 23.06s. Much anticipated face-off between Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson did not happen as Jackson was a no-show at the event.
Antonio Watson won the men’s 200m event with a time of 20.56seconds. Kishane Thompson placed second with a personal best time of 20.92s while Andel Miller placed third.
Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce is set to race against long-time rival Sha’Carri Richardson in the coming days. Her current performance suggests that it should not be a tough one for the Jamaican.
