‘People Would Watch Me Play and Smile’: Ronaldinho Recalls World Cup Goal That Transformed Him
Brazil has produced loads of great footballers in all positions. Players like Neymar Jr and Vinicius Jr are currently carrying the mantle of playing entertaining football, but it all began with the rise of one man- Ronaldinho Gaucho.
The Brazilian winger played for several great clubs in his career, like AC Milan, Paris Saint Germain, and Flamengo. However, he was definitely at the top of his game during his time at FC Barcelona, when he won the Ballon d’Or for his performances.
While his career didn’t go on for very long, it will go down in history as one of the most entertaining ones.
The incredible playing style of Ronaldinho
The thing that attracted most people to the Brazilian superstar was his dribbling and tricks. Ronaldinho always played with a smile on his face and made several others fall in love with the game, too. He wasn’t just a good dribbler, but also had an exceptional eye for passing.
FIFA released a 90-minute documentary about the iconic player, called “The Happiest Man in the World”, on their streaming service FIFA+. In a tweet where they are promoting the documentary, the official account of the FIFA World Cup used a quote from Ronaldinho himself.
“People would watch me play and smile. They were happy. I was whole,” Ronaldinho said.

FIFA+ will feature many more documentaries in the future
This won’t be the last documentary that FIFA will be uploading on their streaming service, as they expect a lot of revenue from this venture. The genre of sports documentaries has been massively profitable for Netflix and Amazon Prime, and FIFA wants to capitalize on that.
FIFA+’s Head of Content James Marley spoke about FIFA’s plans for the future and revealed that they want to bring more light to such incredible stories.
“We want to speak to lots of people and create a huge wealth of content with amazing groups of people like with this doc. We’re in the market to create amazing stories around football – going beyond the appeal of just football and widening it out to a broader audience,” Marley said.
