Tyson Fury ODDS-ON to fight Anthony Joshua in 2023 despite retirement claim, 100/1 to face Jake Paul next

TYSON FURY is odds-on at 4/7 to fight heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua in 2023, according to bookmakers Betfair.

That’s despite the Gypsy King heavily hinting at retirement from professional boxing after his knockout victory over Dillian Whyte on Saturday.

Oleksandr Usyk is Tyson Fury’s most likely opponent, according to BetfairGETTY

The WBC champion dominated the early rounds before unleashing a stunning right uppercut in the sixth.

Unbeaten in 33 bouts and still with his Ring Magazine belt, Fury suggested that he’s ready to hang up the gloves.

He said: “This might be the final curtain for the Gypsy King.

“I will retire as only the second heavyweight in history, after Rocky Marciano, to retire undefeated. I was unbeatable at this game.”

However, Fury’s wife Paris thinks he could be persuaded to fight again to unify the belts against the winner of Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk.

She said: “For Tyson to keep boxing, it just seems for one reason and I know in my heart, I think the only reason that Tyson will come back is for the unification fight.”

That unification bout takes place later this summer, and Betfair clearly fancy Usyk after pricing him at 4/7 to be Fury’s next opponent.

AJ is available at 13/8, while Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker are offered at 5/1 and 7/1 respectively.

A fourth fight against Deontay Wilder is next at 16/1, and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul is priced at a bumper 100/1!

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Tyson Fury is 2/1 to officially retire and never fight again after successfully defending his WBC heavyweight title in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley with a sixth-round knockout over fellow Brit Dillian Whyte.

“However, the Gypsy King is odds-on at 4/7 to fight long-term rival Anthony Joshua in 2023 with the bout 7/4 to happen this year.

“Looking at his next possible opponents, Fury is 4/7 to face Oleksandr Usyk with Joshua 13/8.”
