‘You’re a Loser’: David Feherty Once Made a Shocking Comment About Tiger Woods

David Feherty is one of the funny broadcasters on the PGA Tour. The former professional turned golf broadcaster is famous for his sense of humor and funny comments while covering events. However, back in 2009, during an interview, Feherty made a shocking comment about the 15-time major championship winner Tiger Woods that may not have sat well with fans.

David Feherty makes a bizarre comment about Tiger Woods

Feherty is a former golf professional turned golf broadcaster. The 67-year-old played both on the DP World Tour, earlier known as the European Tour, and on the PGA Tour. Notably, he once spoke with Tiger at the 2009 Quail Hollow Championship.

The 46-year-old professional did not have the finish he expected at the event. He finished in solo fourth position with an overall score of nine-under-par. As a result, Woods finished two shots behind the leader, Sean O’Hair.

Moreover, Feherty added salt to the wounds of the five-time Masters champion while talking to the World Golf Hall of Fame member. The five-time winner on the DP World Tour called Woods a loser.

David said, “I mean, how does a week like this make you feel? We know, I mean Bubba, you know, really had a good chance to win, but he’s gonna feel like he had a pretty good week this week. And Lucas, depending on if he doesn’t win, he’ll feel like he had a pretty good week. I mean, do you feel like a loser?” To which Woods replied, “Well I did I wasn’t even the first loser either.”

He added, “Well, there you go. I mean, it’s difficult to think of you as a loser. But hey, you’re a loser, and good luck next week.” Feherty’s words depict how probably every person thinks Woods is a winner. At the same time, while his comments were rather sarcastic, there wasn’t any malice involved.

When did Woods win his first Masters title?

Tiger won his first major championship and, coincidently, his first Masters victory in 1997. The 82-time PGA Tour winner won the major championship event with an overall score of 18-under-par. As a result, he won the major championship event with an incredible 12-stroke margin, the highest margin of victory to date at the Masters. He carded a final round of three-under-par, 69 to cement his position on the top of the Augusta National Golf Club leaderboard.

His final round of 69 included two birdies and two bogeys on the opening nine holes on Sunday. As a result, Woods moved out in even-par, 36. He made three birdies on the back nine to make the turn in three-under-par, 33.

Not to forget, Tom Kite finished as the runner-up to Woods. He ended the event with an overall score of six-under-par. Tom had to settle for a solo second position finish.
