3-time WWE Champion Threatens to Leave Twitter After Elon Musk Buys It for $44 Billion

Elon Musk offered to purchase Twitter for Billions, and initially no one took it quite seriously. However, Musk saw through with the deal and purchased it for $44 Billion.

While several are happy about this, there are Individuals with criticism. One such individual is WWE Legend Mick Foley. He took to Twitter to reveal that he’ll consider leaving the platform for good in the future.

Considering this comes right after the announcement of Musk purchasing Twitter, there’s no doubt Foley’s statement is about the same.

While some have supported his claim, others have refuted it. Some of the users believe that Foley is coming forward with valid criticism. But, others are of the opinion that Mick Foley doesn’t support free speech.

I’ll be giving some serious thought to leaving @Twitter for good in the near future.

I do not have a good feeling about where this platform is heading.

But, the only way to understand whether or not Foley’s criticism is valid is by understanding why Musk purchased the social media platform.

Why did Elon Musk buy Twitter?

Recently, Musk and the social media platform had been tied in a rift. It started after Musk revealed that he is the highest individual shareholder in the company. Additionally, he revealed he was offered a seat at the table. However, Musk did not accept it.

He revealed that if took a seat at the company’s board, he wouldn’t be able to criticize some of the features that he can do as a regular user and shareholder.

This kicked off a back and forth between Elon Musk and Twitter.

Musk’s whole point of purchasing the platform is to promote free speech and not limit a user’s account or ideas. Currently, the policies followed by Twitter allows the company to limit an account or remove content based on terming it as hate speech or violent speech.

The Tesla CEO wants to dismiss this policy and give users the opportunity to openly express their ideas without limitations.

Now, coming back to what Mick Foley said, he probably indicated that he would leave the platform if users were allowed to indulge in hate speech without any form of monitoring in place. He probably did not mean that he would leave if free speech was allowed.

It’s important to understand the difference between hate speech and free speech.

Finally, Musk wants to put an edit button for Tweets.. and this will be a popular feature!
