‘Champions Adjust!’ – Billie Jean King Reacts as NASCAR Hopeful Avoids Major Travesty in Scary Crash at Talladega
Billie Jean King has changed the complexion of the sporting world for the greater good. She was a strong advocate for the equality of women in sports. Further, her famous win in the ‘Battle of the Sexes’ catalyzed her fight against gender inequality. Additionally, she pioneered to establish Women’s Tennis Association in 1973.
On Saturday, 23rd April, a horrific accident occurred in the ARCA Menards Series involving NASCAR hopeful Toni Breidinger. Her car got turned sideways. Subsequently, Richard Garvie’s car caught some air.
It was frightening scenes at the Talladega Superspeedway where the unfortunate crash took place. Further, safety workers had to cut the roof off Scott Melton’s car to remove him from his car. Recently, Billie Jean King had some words for Toni Breidinger after her crash.

The NASCAR hopeful took to Instagram to update her fans about her condition after the crash. Breidinger said, “well not the weekend we wanted. a bit sore and my ankle hurts, but I had the honor of having @womenssportsfoundation on my car. Thank you @billiejeanking and your whole team. Thank you to my @venturinimotorsports @toyotaracing @romanempiremgmt for everything @hairclub.”
Subsequently, Billie replied to this post, saying, “Champions adjust! Very thankful you were not severely injured, and you will be back stronger than ever.”
The unfortunate incident took place during the 50th lap. The race was red-flagged as soon as the crash occurred in order to remove Melton’s car and clean the wreck.

Earlier, Billie criticized Wimbledon’s decision to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes. She said, “One of the guiding principles of the founding of the WTA was that any girl in the world if she was good enough, would have a place to compete. I stood by that in 1973 and I stand by that today. I cannot support the banning of individual athletes from any tournament, simply because of their nationality.”

Wimbledon’s decision has put a severe blow to the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Aryna Sabalenka. They’ll have to miss one of the most prestigious tournaments of the season.
