“Fire Angel Hernandez”- Fans Request Elon Musk to Buy MLB After $44 Billion Twitter Deal
Elon Musk is creating waves online with his takeover of Twitter. And with the precedent now set, Elon does what Elon can. In the frenzy, MLB fans too, had some requests. With all the chatter surrounding disgruntled fan bases for their owners, the fans are unhappier with another aspect of the game, which is umpiring. Fans online seemed eager to rid MLB of Angel Hernandez. With Musk flexing his financial muscle, fans were eager to make a request.
Elon Musk recently announced a takeover of social media site Twitter and will aim to make the most of its wide user base. Interestingly, Musk, being a proponent of free speech has set his eyes on making the platform as user-friendly as possible. The Twitterati, however, let their imagination run wild as they asked Musk to repeat his takeover by buying MLB. What’s more, they even had a plan of action for him to carry out. Even if that was limited to one very specific action.

With a questionable call from behind home plate against the Philadelphia Phillies, Angel Fernandez had already drawn the ire of many fans.

And their creativity was just about overflowing as they announced the takeover with several suggestions flowing on the site.

One user seemed specifically angry. And he made his discontent known.

But while the creative juices flowed for a while, it wasn’t long before MLB fans were fairly honest with their opinions.

The disdain for Hernandez’s calls rang out from all quarters. It spanned the league’s audience as a whole. The dissatisfaction has been clear for a long time. MLB was opposed to Hernandez umpiring in the post-season until 2021. Things changed, however, as he was on the crew for the NLDS. And even then, the public reaction wasn’t positive.
They gave Hernandez his first shot in the 2021 post-season as he was a part of the NLDS umpiring crew and drew some flak. Many expected his appointment to have come after his lawsuit against MLB, accusing them of discrimination in the allotment of assignments. The lawsuit failed, but Hernandez got what he wanted. And MLB fans were not happy.
