‘He Stole That From Ben Simmons’: Golf World Reacts to Jon Rahm’s Advice to PGA Tour Debutants

Receiving crucial advice from professionals is a dream of every golfer. Getting a piece of advice from probably one of the best professionals in the world maybe something on every golfer’s bucket list. Jon Rahm recently may have helped numerous PGA Tour debutants with his words this week.

The former OWGR Number One, who is a part of the field this week at the 2022 Mexico Open, shared some beautiful words for the PGA Tour rookies playing this week. The 2021 U.S. Open winner said, “You have to go out there and try to win. Don’t come trying to make the cut. If you’re playing, play to win. If not, don’t play. I think that is the mindset they should have.”

Rahm added, “If they’re invited, they’re probably good enough to be out here, so just believe what you can do and try to win.”

His words prove how young professionals or amateurs should approach events. The young golfers would also do well to pick up on the subtle indicator that confidence and mentality are the keys to succeeding in an event.

The golf world has mixed reactions to Jon Rahm’s words

As soon as Rahm’s words came to light, golf Twitter went into a frenzy. Golf fans from all over the globe reacted to the Spaniard’s inspiring statements. While a few of the reactions applauded the gesture by the 27-year-old and agreed with him, other fan reactions begged to differ and questioned the originality of the advice.

Jon Rahm won the 2021 US Open

The 27-year-old picked up his first major championship victory at the U.S.Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in 2021. He ended the event with an overall score of six-under-par and clinched the major by a one-stroke margin

Rahm’s final round of 67 included three birdies and one bogey on the opening nine holes. As a result, the Spaniard moved out in two-under-par, 33. On top of that, he made two birdies and seven pars on the back nine to make the turn in two-under-par 34.
