“I’m With Logano, I Blame Truex” – Freddie Kraft Faults Martin Truex Jr for Causing Bubba Wallace to Trigger ‘The Big One’

At the Talladega Superspeedway, the usual big one took place in the closing stages. Bubba Wallace triggered it when he had contact with Joey Logano after the restart. Wallace insisted that he barely touched the Penske driver, so he was not to blame for the crash. Following the race weekend, spotter Freddie Kraft spoke about the crash and pinned the blame on Martin Truex Jr.

He said, “I’m with Logano, I blame Truex. I’ll admit I’m swayed towards Bubba a little bit, but we’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing to get your line rolling. We’re all pushing each other. Normally we don’t see these kind of wrecks on restarts. It was just an accordion effect that Joey got spat out of.”

He continued, “When you get a line rolling on a restart, the only way you’ll get your line rolling is to f***ing push the guy in front of you. That’s the only way to get your line better than the other line. Everybody’s trying to do the same thing. The #19 got out a little bit and got dragged back to the #43. Once that #43 got attached to the #19, it started that accordion kind of snake effect.”

Owing to that, it unsettled Logano and he bumped into Erik Jones. While Wallace was aware that everyone was packed really tight, he needed to push his line. Sadly, things just went horribly wrong. Kraft insisted that he would not have told Bubba Wallace to try anything different.

In the end, all that they can do is rue what could have been and mourn the loss of valuable points. After that, all of the affected teams and drivers have to simply move on and focus on the next race weekend. Next on the calendar is the Dover Motor Speedway, where the pack has another shot at glory.
