Johnny Depp managed to find time to craft a courtroom sketch during his defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard this week.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 58, was spotted doodling on a sketch pad on Wednesday, colouring figure drawings in purple and pink as he waited for the jury to arrive.

This isn’t the first time he’s been practising his sketching abilities during the trial.

On Tuesday, the actor was also captured doodling away in a now-viral TikTok in which he passed the sketch to his attorney Benjamin Chew on day nine of the trial taking place in Fairfax, Virginia.

That same day, a fan, who declared themselves #TeamJohnny, shared the video to TikTok, where it has since garnered more than four million views in under 18 hours.

Depp completed his testimony on Monday in what wound up as a tense day in court.

The actor’s defamation allegations are in connection with a 2018 Washington Post op-ed by Heard, in which she called herself a victim of domestic abuse, while not naming Depp directly as the offender.

She subsequently filed a countersuit against Depp for $100million (£79,600,000).

Testimony about the actors’ private lives has shocked many in recent days, with Heard and Depp painting a picture of a tumultuous marriage in the courtroom.

Depp’s fourth day on the witness stand gave an inside look into the divorce fall-out, with the day drawing to a close with Depp’s attorneys playing audio from a 2016 conversation with Heard in a San Francisco hotel room, a year before the finalisation of their divorce in 2017.

The audio included the actor suggesting that the couple issue a joint statement about their love for one another, however, Heard responded that he should tell the world about his alleged abuse.

In the recording, she can be heard saying: ‘Tell the world, Johnny.’

She then added: ‘Tell them I, Johnny Depp — a man — I’m a victim, too, of domestic violence.’

In another clip, Depp could be heard calling Heard a ‘c***’ as well as saying: ‘Shut up, fat a**.’

In a third shocking clip, Depp threatened to cut himself with a knife. Speaking to the court about the moment, he said: ‘That’s psychologically, emotionally where I was.

‘At the end, I was broken . . . I thought the only answer is here, take my blood, that’s all I’ve got left.’

The trial continues.
