Khamzat Chimaev’s Teammate Alexander Gustafsson Set to Return to UFC Action This July

Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson, who is a teammate of the UFC superstar Khamzat Chimaev will return to UFC action after a sabbatical of almost a year this July. The Swedish fighter will take on the Ukrainian light-heavyweight fighter, Nikita Krylov.

Alexander Gustafsson is currently on a losing streak in his career, having lost his last three bouts. He lost his last two bout against Fabrício Werdum and Anthony Smith via submission, and suffered a KO loss to the UFC icon Jon Jones. Gustafsson is considered to be a great fighter by many critics. He has also defeated the current champ Glover Teixeira earlier in his career.

His opponent, the Russian-Ukrainian fighter, Nikita Krylov is also on a two fight losing streak. His last bout was at UFC London, where he lost to Paul Craig via a first round submission.

The details of the event are not revealed by the UFC as of yet. However, there have been reports that the UFC will return to London this July. Marcel Dorf, an MMA reporter revealed the news via Twitter.

Another fighter who are likely to be a part of the UFC London event apart from Gustafsson and Krylov is the fan favourite Tom Aspinall. Aspinall created a stir  in the last London event after his impressive victory against Alexander Volkov.

Georges St Pierre critiques Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns

Khamzat Chimaev’s fight against Gilbert Burns was loved by many fight fans and was praised by Dana White as well. the UFC legend Georges St Pierre weighed in on the war as well.

He said,” he needed this because he went through everybody a little bit like butter. You need some adversity sometimes and in the adversity, you get better and improve. So I think it was a good fight for him.”

“I like to watch him fight, but I don’t think he fought the smartest fight…You need to prepare, to the game plan and to become the perfect nemesis for your opponent. You can’t always go in there and try to trade blows with someone like this,” added ‘Rush.’
