Chicago Icon Rips Michael Jordan for Being “Cheap” and a “Lousy Owner”

Michael Jordan, after retirement, set up various camps for kids and for adults. These basketball camps were great in themselves, as the players would get to play with the GOAT himself. Not only basketball, but Jordan would organize charity golf camps as well. Though there are a few camps that invited even bigger guys.

Radio sports personality, Mike North recalls one of the Michael Jordan camps he was invited to. In reality, these events did not really include Jordan’s friends or close relations instead, middle-aged millionaires were the most common participants. These included entrepreneurs and wall street brokers.

Michael Jordan gets called a lousy owner

In a podcast episode, Chicago radio legend, Mike described Jordan’s 35 and older basketball camp. Along with Mike, there were other radio broadcasters, coaches, and former players. Coach K was also invited, and he was to draft players for his team. Though Jordan did not want to give Mike a fair deal to play. Recalling this, Mike said, “… so yes, you are cheap.”.

Not only that, he says that Jordan is a lousy owner as well. Nonetheless, the camp was great, the participants would practice moves that were taught by big-time coaches, and Jordan was there to make sure everyone stretched before their workout. This camp was a dream come true for everyone, especially for the goodies sent before the camp. These included a good number of Air Jordan merchandise.

Jordan may not be a great team owner after all

In 2010, Michael became the majority owner of the Hornets, which was known as Charlotte Bobcats at the time. Since then, the Hornets have made the playoffs just twice and never made it past the first round. This stretch also included a league record set by the team for the worst regular-season record of 7-59.

The team looked into rebuilding many times, but even that didn’t seem to work. This year the Hornets lost in the Play-in tournament despite a decent regular season by the young roster. It will be interesting to see what the team looks forward to in the offseason, now that they’ve parted ways with their head coach.
