Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle given ‘Best Trainer of the Month’ award by Eddie Howe despite not starting a game under him
NEWCASTLE striker Dwight Gayle has received the ‘Best Trainer of the Month’ award by manager Eddie Howe despite him never being named in a starting XI by him.
Howe is in the process of revolutionising the Magpies and club captain Jamal Lascelles has spoken of his way to motivate players.

He said to The Athletic: “Success is recognised rather than failure punished.”
As a result, Gayle is among those to win a prize from the fine kitty for topping the training leaderboard.

Lascelles claims if the 32-year-old loses a practice game “he’s miserable.”

Howe said earlier this month: “Dwight’s been very good in his training and quite rightly deserves some sort of recognition from me.
“He’s someone I respect greatly — he’s a real leader of the group.
“You have your guys who are playing, but then you have your guys who aren’t playing but are so important to the culture and feel of the group.
“Dwight’s been pivotal in keeping that very positive.

“He is a big reason behind why the team is doing so well.”
Gayle he has only been on the pitch for 33 Premier League minutes this season showing his off the pitch importance.
Sean Longstaff revealed: “Even when you’re not playing, you don’t lose interest, as maybe you could have done before.”
Newcastle have escaped the relegation battle under Howe’s management and have climbed up to 9th in the table.
They face Liverpool on Saturday.
