American Idol singer Laine Hardy probed by Louisiana State University police over ‘sensitive allegations’

AMERICAN Idol winner Laine Hardy has been issued a warrant from Louisiana State University Police, per a statement from the star.

On Thursday, the Louisiana native confirmed that he was the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Laine, tk, released a statement on his official Facebook page regarding the legal matter.

His post reads: “Earlier today, I received a warrant due to allegations made against me and have been fully cooperative with the Louisiana State University Police Department.

“I understand that my career has thrust me into the public spotlight, and I embrace that wholeheartedly as my entire world belongs to my music and my fans.”

The musician went on: “However, due to the sensitive nature of this allegation, I humbly ask for privacy at this time.”

Laine concluded: “I have the utmost respect for the law and will assist in their investigation as needed moving forward.”

He shared the same statement on Twitter and Instagram, eliciting kind words from fans.

LSU confirmed to WAFB that there is an active investigation against the singer, but declined to provide additional details.

The artist was thrust into the spotlight when he appeared on the singing competition series in Season 17.


He went on to win the show, and continues to perform.

Laine has not revealed any more details about the warrant, or the complaint that led to it.

INVESTIGATION ON

Per The Advocate, LSU spokesman Ernie Ballard previously revealed in a statement on Thursday morning that police on campus were working on an investigation into someone called Laine Hardy.

Asked if he was referring to the singer, he replied via text message: “That is my understanding.”

More information is expected to be released on Friday, according to the outlet.

Laine was born in Baton Rouge, and continues to live in Louisiana.

The music competition series winner now lives in Livingston Parish.

He’s a country singer, with his first album – Here’s to Anyone – having been released in 2021.

Hours before he confirmed the news that he’s the subject of a police investigation, Laine shared a video of himself playing guitar.

He captioned the post: “Playin’ around…”

It’s unclear at this time whether Laine is a student at LSU, or the matter involves someone who is.
