Bubba Wallace’s Spotter Freddie Kraft Lauds Hendrick Motorsports’ Strategy to Shift Focus From Qualifying to the Race in Talladega

In most motorsports, qualifying is extremely important as it gives drivers a better chance to win the race. However, in NASCAR, many teams have found that qualifying does not matter. In fact, Hendrick Motorsports has elected to adopt the strategy of not focusing on qualifying and just thinking about the race. In light of this, NASCAR spotter Freddie Kraft sang praises of the strategy call.

He said, “It was clear that it paid dividends. I felt like in years past its gotten a little better. When they qualified on pole, they were very high risk to wreck. Yesterday, they controlled majority of the race. The #5, the #24 and the #9 pulled that bottom line for as long as I could remember.”

“They all worked together all race, and when we talk about teams working together, they controlled a lot of that race. It was because the drivability of the car was a lot better. They could push more. When you have speed like that, you kind of give up drivability, the car’s a little more on edge.”

How will Hendrick Motorsports perform in the remainder of the season?

So far, the outfit has been performing exceptionally well in the current campaign. Three out of their four drivers have won at least one race, with William Byron winning a second one. Though it is worth mentioning that Chase Elliott has yet to win a race this year. In spite of that, he is leading the regular-season championship standings.

Obviously, he will be under a bit of pressure to get the monkey off his back. However, the driver knows that this feat will not be easy, especially with his teammates in fine form, and his rivals also looking strong. Additionally, he will not be willing to wait for a road course race, even though that is one of his specialties. Instead, he will want to succeed at as many tracks as possible.
