I’m a fashion guru – what your favourite bikini says about you & it’s bad news if you’re an under-boob flasher

WITH summer just around the corner, most of us are already planning for a holiday or beach getaways to soak up the sun.

This also means heading to the shops or going online to bag new swimwear – and whether it’s a basic two-piece or a more glam full-body with dozens of dangly gold detailing, it tells a lot about your persona.

Speaking to Fabulous, the expert revealed what a person’s go-to swimwear reveals about themGabrielle Teare

Here, Fabulous chatted to spoke to Gabrielle Teare, a professional stylist, to find out what a person’s go-to swimwear reveals about them.

ONE-PIECE

A classic that keeps everything in place, a figure-hugging one-piece can certainly look very elegant and chic.

And although some might assume that the person wearing it lacks confidence and uses it to hide away any imperfections they’re self-conscious about, Gabrielle believes that isn’t always the case.

But she did add: ”Personally, I think that if you’ve got a body, wear a bikini.

FASHION FURY

”Because with a bikini, you can take off the straps and then […] – you’ve got a brown body.

”I mean, isn’t that the point of wearing a bikini – to get brown?’’

BLACK SWIMWEAR

When in doubt, wear black” is a fashion ”rule” we’ve been taught since Day 1.

But, according to Gabrielle, nothing screams ”lack of confidence” as much as purchasing yet another set of black swimwear.

In her eyes, people who always go for black – whether it’s a bikini or any other garment – use the clothing piece to ”hide”.

”It’s kind of like ‘I’m here, but I’m trying to hide’.’’

Instead, she recommended, go for more vibrant colours and if you’re struggling with confidence, then act like you don’t.

”Wear them because one day you won’t be able to.”

UNDER-BOOB FLASHER

A bikini look that’s taken over our Instagram feeds, with celebrities showing their assets on holiday, the under-boob flasher has become all the rage in the recent years.

From Kim Kardashian to the former Love Island star, Megan Barton Hanson, it appears that everyone’s jumped on this trend.

Favoured by many, including Megan Barton Hanson, the under-boob flasher bikini is a ‘tacky’ look according to GabrielleInstagram

But despite its huge popularity, Gabrielle warned beach-goers, saying that just like ”the short shorts with the bottom falling out”, the under-boob flasher is ”tacky”.

”I wouldn’t be able to do that.

”Personally, I would be more inclined to wear a push-up bra to make them look bigger.”

SEE-THROUGH

Although perhaps not intentional, a see-through bikini is a fashion mishap that we’ve all seen at least once while basking in the afternoon sun.

Whether intentional or not, Gabrielle believes ”it’s not a good look”.

”If you buy really cheap bikinis, they are see-through and you can see, you know, your pubic hair, you can see your nipples, you can see everything.”

Rather than having your every inch on show, Gabrielle recommended investing that little extra in a good quality swimwear – and it doesn’t necessarily mean spending hundreds.

GO ALL OUT

Having worked in the industry for years, the most common thing Gabrielle has observed is a severe lack of confidence amongst British women.

Not having been brought up to look in the mirror or be vain, she said, is the reason most don’t know how to take a compliment and feel confident in their skin.

”Say ‘thanks’ and smile at them – acknowledge it; don’t just disregard it.
