Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty’s Achievements Nominated for Tennis Hall of Fame Awards

Australian Open 2022 victories of Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty have been nominated for the prestigious International Tennis Hall of Fame awards. Barty’s victory in the summit clash against Danielle Collins received a nomination in the ‘Moment of National Pride’ category. Meanwhile, Nadal’s epic come-from-behind victory has been nominated in the ‘Best Comeback Within a Match’ category.

Barty will face competition from Andy Murray’s 2013 Wimbledon victory, David Hall’s 2000 Sydney Paralympics win, etc. On the other hand, Nadal’s category has Jennifer Capriati’s victory over Martina Hingis at the Australian Open final in 2002. Earlier this year, Barty surprised one and all with her decision to retire from tennis at the age of 25. Her announcement was more startling considering the fact that she was in her prime and had just won a Grand Slam title in front of her home crowd.
