What Is Marin Cilic’s World Ranking?
Marin Cilic has been among the elite players in men’s tennis over the past 15 years. He was a constant threat to the dominance of the famed ‘Big Three’, including the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Further, his attacking shot-making and big serves and forehands were a treat to watch.
After a consistent run across big tournaments, Cilic’s dream finally came true in 2014. The Croatian lifted the US Open title that season, defeating Kei Nishikori in the summit clash. He defeated the likes of Kevin Anderson, Tomas Berdych, and Roger Federer en route to the title.
Subsequently, he made a couple of final appearances at Wimbledon and the Australian Open in 2017 and 2018, respectively. After his brilliant run Down Under in 2018, Cilic reached a career-high ranking of Number 3. However, he has had mixed results since then and has slipped out of the top-10 of world rankings.
Marin Cilic remains in the top-25 of the ATP rankings
As per the latest ATP rankings, Cilic is stationed at the 23rd spot on the ATP rankings chart. He entered the 2022 season as the World Number 30. Owing to his decent form this season, he has risen seven spots on the rankings table. However, once a constant presence in the top-10, Cilic drop in the rankings has been contributed by his indifferent form at major tournaments. Since 2019, Cilic has failed to proceed beyond the fourth round of Grand Slam tournaments.

During his career, the 33-year-old has gone on to win 20 ATP men’s singles titles. However, his biggest title remains at the US Open in 2014, his only Grand Slam title victory.

Cilic has had a mixed set of results this year. He began the 2022 season with a semifinal finish at the Adelaide International 1. Subsequently, he had a similar result at the Adelaide International 2 tournament. At the Australian Open, he went down fighting in the fourth round against Felix Auger-Aliassime in a four-setter thriller.
However, he has had disappointing results since then in Doha, Dubai, and the ATP Masters tournaments in Indian Wells, Miami, and Monaco. After a couple of titles last season, the Croatian is still awaiting his first title win this year. However, with the grass-court season yet to commence this year, Cilic will look to discover his lost mojo on his favorite surface.
