BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty in epic on-air gaffe as she says Boris Johnson is in PRISON

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty made an epic on-air gaffe after she accidentally said Prime Minister Boris Johnson “spent his first night in jail”.

Naga, 47, was hosting the show on Saturday morning when she mistook three-time Wimbledon winner Boris Becker with the Prime Minister.

The BBC broadcaster said: “Three times Wimbledon champion Boris Johnson has spent his first night in prison.

“He was sentenced to two-and-a-half years for hiding assets to avoid paying debts.”

She also accused him of “seeking to blame others,” before sentencing him.

It comes after tennis star Boris, 54, was jailed for two and a half years after hiding millions of pounds when he went bankrupt in 2017.

BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent snaps ‘Are you awake?!’ after TWO Dan Walker blunders

chilly chat

BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood takes to Twitter after Dan Walker’s cheeky swipe

The six-time Grand Slam champion and BBC pundit was found guilty of flouting insolvency rules by concealing more than £2.5million in cash, shares and property.

Viewers were quick to point out the awkward blunder and raced to Twitter to comment.

One wrote: “What a slip! BBC’s @TVNaga01 claims Boris Johnson just spent his first night in prison.”

Another posted: “Not helped when Naga on BBC breakfast actually said Boris Johnson rather than Becker had been jailed with no correction.”

A third chimed in: “Anyone surprised Naga Munchetty said Boris Johnson has spent his first night in jail, instead of Boris Becker?”

“So Naga Munchetty also said Boris Johnson has gone to jail when referring to Boris Becker. Is this Freudian?” shared another.

Naga failed to correct the error before handing over to co-host Ben Thompson.

This isn’t the first time that viewers have been left in stitches this week.

Tuesday’s show saw Dan presenting alongside Sally Nugent and after going over the day’s headlines, they started to check in with Carol for a weather update.

Dan said: “Shall we find out what’s happening with the weather?”

Sally replied: “Yes, it was a little bit cold getting in the car this morning!”

Dan then joked: “Well, who needs Carol? There you go, Sally’s just done the weather, Carol!”

Thankfully the comment was taken in good humour by Carol, who giggled and said: “And very well, might I add!”

She then launched into her weather report saying: “Sally’s quite right, it is a cold start to the day – and for some of us, it is a frosty one as well.”

Carol later took to Twitter after a cheeky swipe from Dan to share a concise weather updates of her own, telling BBC Breakfast viewers: “It was cold walking into work this morning!!!”

She then added: “The weather this week seems to be stuck in a rut!”
