According to the Mirror, Ten Hag wants to sign Malacia for United after not being allowed to pursue him while at Ajax due to the rivalry between Ajax and Malacia’s current club Feyenoord.

Scouts from both United and Lyon watched his performance against Marseille in the Europa Conference League semi-final.

The Mirror’s report indicates a bid of just £20m would be enough to convince the Dutch side to sell up.

While his goal contribution numbers are not high, Malacia is said to be comfortable on the ball with a plethora of pace to help.

He has also earned the nickname ‘pitbull’ from the Feyenoord fans due to his tackling technique.

The 22-year-old’s arrival would likely spell the end of one of Alex Telles’ or Luke Shaw’s United careers, with the position becoming a real cause of concern for United this season.

Reports have indicated an ambitious overhaul is on the cards for United under Ten Hag, with a number of areas being overhauled to improve the playing squad.

Malacia has just recently broken into Louis van Gaal’s Dutch national side, earning three caps so far.
