I was trolled by furious neighbours for painting my building ‘boring’ grey – so decided to get revenge in perfect way

A PLUMBER got the ultimate revenge on his neighbours after they complained about him painting his building “boring” grey.

Andy Nesbitt, 55, from posh seaside town St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, was gobsmacked when over 250 locals moaned about the colour change on a Facebook group.

Andy Nesbitt couldn’t believe the outpouring of anger at him for painting his yellow building a ‘smart grey’ colour

Locals fumed online and then this angry letter was taped to the building

They claimed the paint job, which cost him £10,000, was “absolutely horrible” and risked leaving residents with “depression”.

One bemoaned: “Gutted that another building is being painted grey – it was a lovely lemon [colour before] that glowed pinkish in the sunset and looked so pretty against the blue sky.”

Others claimed they would paint their homes “s*** brown” in protest and one furious local even taped an angry note to Andy’s window.

The letter, which was signed off with a sad emoji, read: “NOT ANOTHER BUILDING GOING GREY!! It’s the seaside, not an industrial estate.”

Andy was annoyed by the note and decided to get his own back on the nosy neighbours.

He told The Sun: “I couldn’t believe people had such strong opinions.

“One person even commentated that I ‘must be rich and wear a top hat’ to have chosen grey.

“My wife told me I should get my revenge by painting it all over with purple spots, so I thought, ‘What the hell!’”

By 7am the next morning, Andy headed down to his local B&Q and within three hours the building was covered with purple spots.

Many of the locals saw the funny side to Andy’s stunt

Many in the town have since seen the funny side too, branding him “a legend” and claiming his act “the best revenge”.

Others compared its appearance to Mr Blobby, the pink with yellow spot mascot from the Nineties TV show Noel’s House Party.

Another quipped: “I thought those drugs ran out in the Seventies.”

Andy’s building, which hosts his plumbing and heating business and two rented out flats, is now a local landmark.

He said: “It’s mad. People are bringing their kids down to look. I’ve had people drive by and take pictures.

“When I walked into the pub after work, I was greeted with a round of applause.”

It’s not just locals who have appreciated Andy’s cheeky comeback – social media users as far away as America have also applauded him.

One wrote: “Ah yes… looks like Andy has chosen to paint it a lovely pattern [of] ‘mind your own f***ing business’ – well played Andy, I bet they’ll love it.”

A second added: “One of my favourite phrases in the English language, ‘malicious compliance.’”

Andy claims there are “no bad feelings” between him and his neighbours or the local who initially berated him online, who has since apologised.

He added: “I think it would have been nicer if she had just spoken to my face instead.”

However, the misshaped purple spots and smiling and frowning faces are unlikely to stay, Andy revealed.

He said: “I’m too conformist. I’m afraid it will be greyed.”
