‘One Of The Saddest Things I’ve Ever Seen’: Fans Side With Jake Paul Over Critical Issue
The UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, had expressed interest in a boxing crossover to fight Canelo Alvarez. Recently, the YouTuber turned boxer took to social media to call out Usman, for accusing Alvarez of avoiding him.
Our fans know who the best is because “The best fight The best” not run & hide and fight nobody’s with those plastic belts & call themselves “super champion”. Keep quiet next time & if you need lessons on how to save that dying sport let me know I’ve got Dana on speed dial
— KAMARU USMAN (@USMAN84kg) April 28, 2022
In a recent tweet, Kamaru Usman accused Canelo Alvarez of refusing to fight him. He mentioned that the best fighters fight the best, and not run and hide.
Moreover, Usman even added that he can save the ‘dying’ sport. He said, “Keep quiet next time & if you need lessons on how to save that dying sport let me know I’ve got Dana on speed dial.”

However, this statement did not sit well with Jake Paul. He was quick to point out the dichotomy of Usman’s statements. Paul wrote, “Kamaru Usman: ‘boxing is dying’. Also Kamaru Usman: ‘pls Canelo fight me for a payday.”
Paul was referring to Usman’s repeated swipes at Alvarez. Usman regularly took media platforms, to call out Alvarez for a boxing crossover bout.

— Jesse Morgan (@mmasmartguy) April 28, 2022
Boxing is not dying. It has it’s ups and downs and the past 2 years have been fantastic. No one else for canelo to really fight. Fury is done. AJ will get dusted. Usyk will unify unless dw gets lucky. I love Ruiz but he’s not winning a title again. And Jake Paul.. FIGHT A BOXER.
— Ayyash (@ayyash_mo) April 29, 2022
User @ayyash_mo also sided with Paul on boxing not being a dying sport.
However, he added that Paul should start fighting real boxers.

Boxing will never Die and Usman he is great UFC Fighter but if he Fights Jake Paul I see Paul taking Usman out within three Rounds and Usman Fights Canelo , Canelo take him out in the First Round, Usman has very slow Foot work, very vulnerable straight up style
— John Cross (@CrossJc1704340) April 29, 2022
A fan @CrossJc1704340 felt that Paul will easily defeat Usman, if he faces him in the boxing ring.

Many users were quick to point out the contrasting numbers in both sports. They mentioned that boxing, as a sport, was much better off financially than MMA.
Reviving a ‘dying’ sport with Usman
Usman was last seen in the ring at UFC 268, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He defended his UFC welterweight title against Colby Covington and was declared the winner by decision.
Usman was in an interview with TMZ sports, when he mentioned that boxing is a dying sport. He said, “Boxing is dead. Boxing is dead, at the end of the day. I’m not saying that there aren’t good boxers.”
He also quickly called out for boxers in the division, especially Alvarez, for not challenging him. Usman said, “I am not afraid to go over there and challenge. I am not afraid to do that, but unfortunately those guys, not even Canelo, will never come here to challenge.”
