Has Free Agent QB Colin Kaepernick Ever Played In a Super Bowl Game?

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback turned American social activist Colin Kaepernick is unarguably one of the best players in NFL history. Even though he could only feature his abilities for six seasons with the Niners, the quarterback was successful in leading the team to compete for the Super Bowl title.

Before getting wrapped up in controversies, including the one where he knelt during the national anthem, his career in the NFL was soaring high as a successful signal-caller for the franchise.

Colin Kaepernick led the team to a Super Bowl in 2013

After playing college football for the Nevada Wolf Pack, Colin Kaepernick was picked by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft. He played until 2016, for six seasons with the Niners. His greatest season came in 2013 when he led the team towards the Super Bowl. At the mid-season, the franchise made a transition from veteran QB Alex Smith to second-year player Colin Kaepernick.

His inclusion into the team helped the offensive unit shift gears from a conservative, proficient side to playing the most aggressive attacks in the game.  this, Kaepernick proved why he could be an elite signal-caller for the 49ers in the future. Moreover, that Super Bowl XLVII was only his 10th career start. With a handful of postseason experiences, he helped the team reach closer to their destination.

Interestingly, Kaepernick was taking the 49ers to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1994. However, the Baltimore Ravens jumped out early in the game making a 22 points deficit that the Niners had to chase. At that point, any youngster would wilt out and lose hopes of winning the game. But Kaepernick, behind the center of the offense, put together another late-game rally.

He started targeting players like Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis to push the ball downfield. Unfortunately, the 49ers’ efforts to fill the deficit could not bear fruits. Even though the Niners lost at the end, they brought the game within two points. Kaepernick contributed 364 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in the game.

Kaepernick was a star from College itself

Even before entering the NFL, Kaepernick’s talent was oozing out in his college career. Surprisingly most of his high school accolades came as a baseball player, but his fondness for football pulled him to make a career in the sport. He started his College career in 2007 with the Nevada Wolf Pack as a backup quarterback.

He played 11 of the 13 games finishing the season with 19 passing touchdowns, three interceptions, and 2,175 passing yards. Colin Kaepernick became the fifth player in NCAA history to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 or more yards in a single season. After parting ways with the NFL, the former QB is trying his best to get a spot for the 2022 NFL season. Despite getting encouragement from the NFL, no teams signed him till the 2022 NFL draft successfully concluded.
