“Imma Go for…” – Teofimo Lopez Shares His Prediction for Gervonta Davis vs. Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero

On May 28, Gervonta Davis will get inside the ring with Rolando Romero at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Initially, the fight was supposed to happen last year in December. But because of unfortunate circumstances, Romero had to be removed, and the organizers brought Isaac Cruz as a replacement. After six months of waiting, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero will finally face each other with the WBA (Regular) lightweight title at stake.

The undefeated star Tank will return to Barclays Center where he first won a world title on April 21, 2018. Most probably, this will be his last fighting out of Mayweather Promotions.

With a few weeks ahead of the Tank vs. Rolly showdown, Little Giant Boxing caught up with Teofimo Lopez. After Shakur Stevenson’s victory over Oscar Valdez, they asked Lopez who he believed would win between Rolly and Tank. This is what the former unified lightweight world champion had to say:

“Man, I got the fight fans, of course. I’mma go for Rolly. He works hard; he has enough to beat Tank.”

As per the statement, Lopez believes the challenger Rolly would win.

How does Gervonta Davis look before the event in May

Tank is twenty-seven years old right now and has twenty-six fights and victories on his resume. Undefeated in professional boxing, he has a record of 26 wins, 0 losses, and 0 draws. 24 that is 92.31% of his matches end via knockouts. At 18, Davis made his professional debut, and since then he has boxed a total of 108 rounds in professional boxing. He is a southpaw with a height of 5 feet and 5 and a half inches.

Some names Tank has gone against are Isaac Cruz, Santa Cruz, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and the former WBA super lightweight champion Mario Barrios.

Where does Rolando Romero stand as opposed to Tank?

Rolly is a year younger than Tank. As of now, he has a professional record of 14 wins, 0 losses, and 0 draws. In contrast with Davis, 12, that is 85.71% of his victories come by a way of knockouts. In addition, he stands 5 feet and 8 inches tall. Therefore, it is pretty clear that going into the bout Rolly would have some sort of advantage in terms of his reach and size.

However, the Tank is used to fighting all sorts of opponents. Therefore, with that level of experience as mentioned, it should not be a big problem for him to face Rolly.
