Team USA Announces Swimming Roster for 2022 FINA World Championships
With the conclusion of the Team Trials, the anticipation for the FINA World Championships grows stronger by the minute. And with that, USA Swimming has released the roster of athletes to represent the United States at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships.
Much like at the team trials, Katie Ledecky and Dressel are sure to steal the spotlight at the meet too. However, other promising athletes have made it to the list too.

Surprisingly, the roster contains a lineup of only 41 athletes as opposed to 46 competitors at the 2019 Championships. It inscribes them as the smallest team to represent the country at a long course international meet in some time.
The US has won the most medals at each of the last nine World Aquatics Championships. With Australian stars like Emma McKeon, Kyle Chalmers, and Ariarne Titmus not competing at the meet, the US team will likely follow tradition.

After qualifying at the Phillips 66 International Team Trials, Ledecky will represent the US team in the 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle events. Everyone anticipates a brilliant performance from the 15-time championship gold medalist at the meet.
Caeleb Dressel will compete in the 50m free, 100m free, 50m fly, and 100m fly in his third World Aquatics Championships.
Other prominent athletes at the meet
Other athletes who will compete in multiple events at the meet include Lilly King, Claire Curzan, Torri Huske, Regan Smith, Michael Andrew, Nic Fink, Kieran Smith, Ryan Murphy, Bobby Finke, and Hunter Armstrong.
This year, as many as seven teenagers have made it to the roster; Claire Weinstein is the youngest athlete on the team. At 15, she is also the youngest American swimmer to compete in an individual event at a global aquatics meet in the last 15 years.
She put on quite a performance by recording the fastest time by a 15-year-old American in the 200m freestyle event at the Team Trials.
Bobby Finke is another promising athlete to compete in the 800m and 1500m free at the meet. Both the events are Bobby’s strong suit as he has won two gold medals during his debut at the Tokyo Olympics, winning gold in both the events.
The swimming events of the 2022 World Aquatics Championships will be held in Budapest from June 18th to 25th. The venue, Danube Arena, has hosted the World Aquatics Championships once before, in 2017.
