‘Finally Arrived at the Difficult Decision’ – Roger Federer’s Wimbledon Slayer Kevin Anderson Posts Heart-Breaking Career Update
With each passing season on the ATP tour, there are certain players who appeared to have past their prime and looks to be on the verge of their respective retirements. While fans might not prefer their favorite ATP player to leave the sport, it’s inevitable and owing to the intense competition on tour these days, it gets tough for certain older players to remain competitive and win. One such athlete is South Africa’s Kevin Anderson.
Kevin Anderson bids adieu to tennis in an emotional post
Anderson, who is a two-time Grand Slam finalist, stunned Roger Federer in the 2018 Wimbledon Championships and went on to reach the finals. Known for his huge serve, the South African has made a unique name for himself on the ATP tour. Earlier today, Anderson announced his decision to retire from the sport.
In a detailed message on Twitter, Anderson explained the reason behind this difficult decision.
“Today, I finally arrived at the difficult decision to retire from professional tennis. There are so many people who helped me along the way, and believed that a kid from South Africa could achieve his dreams. Thank you Mum and Dad – I am eternally grateful for the countless hours you spent coaching me.”

The South African star went on to thank his team for all the sacrifices they made in shaping up his career and also appreciated his wife for standing by his side through thick and thin.
“I’ve learned from so many people along the way. I’m extremely grateful for the incredible coaches, agents, physios, fitness trainers, mental coaches who helped me maximize my potential and really achieve my dreams over the years.”

In a career that lasted for more than a decade, Anderson tried to put his best foot forward and found incredible success on the big stage. His victory against Federer at SW19 would probably go out as one of the best moments of his career.
Having always remained an athlete who spoke less outside and talked only through his performance on-court, Kevin Anderson will prove to be an inspiring example for people who are persistent in achieving their dreams and constantly work hard towards the same.
