I’ve missed out on a lot with my kids – I fought with Kerry and couldn’t speak to them, says Brian McFadden

BRIAN McFadden has revealed that he missed out on a lot with his two daughters – and fought with his ex Kerry Katona.

The 42-year-old shares Molly Marie, 20, and 19-year-old Lilly-Sue McFadden with the Atomic Kitten singer.

The pair met in 1999, and later wed in 2002.

Two years after tying the knot, they decided to go their separate ways.

Opening up to Closer magazine, the Irish singer confessed that he regrets “not being there as much for his two eldest children”.

Brian said: “I was only a kid myself when I had Molly and Lilly, and I was at the height of my career in Westlife then – we were literally working 365 days a year, and there was no FaceTime so I couldn’t speak to the kids.

“I could only see them when I came home.

“So it was a lot harder and I missed out on a lot of the stuff that I would have loved to have seen with the girls.”

Luckily Brian and Kerry now have a better relationship, and the fact that the girls are older makes it easier to co-parent.

He added: “It’s very easy to co-parent now out children aren’t kids anymore. It was obviously a lot more difficult when they were growing up.

“Kerry and I didn’t have a very good relationship from the day we broke up until now, really, but it’s been a long time.

“We were only kids when we got together and when we broke up, but we have enough life experience now that we get on with it and there are no problems.

“There’s no fighting anymore.”

Kerry, who is also mum to Heidi Elizabeth Croft, Maxwell Mark Croft and Dylan-Jorge Rose Kay, is engaged to fiancé Ryan Mahoney.

The pair started dating three years ago when they met on a dating app, and got engaged in 2020.

They are even talking about having kids together.

Meanwhile Brian and his wife Danielle Parkinson, who met in 2016, share a daughter called Ruby Jean.

Brian has made sure that he is part of all of Kerry’s children’s lives.

He added: “I’ve got a great relationship with Kerry’s other kids, they’re Molly and Lilly’s siblings so they’re part of my family too.

“Kerry has managed to make it work very, very well and the same to Ryan, he’s been a brilliant father to her two children especially.”
