“A Big, Big Party” – MLB Ramps Up For All-Star Weekend At LA Dodgers’ Home Stadium

The LA Dodgers are a baseball institution. With a storied MLB history and a solid fanbase at its back, it makes Dodger Stadium one of baseball’s crown jewels. And with it being the chosen venue for the All-Star game in 2022, the fans and players will no doubt be excited. 2022 also presents a unique opportunity for the Dodgers, as several of their players may well be playing in it. And for an All-star to play the game at his home stadium will be much more special for him.

Dodger Stadium allows for a splendid view for the fans in the stadium and has hosted some iconic games over the years. The last All-Star game, though, was some time ago. However, their fanbase has been remarkably consistent. Always showing raucous support, hosting an All-Star game seems to be a decent bonus for them. With the celebration set to be spread across five days, one could expect some memorable moments.

The countdown begins for the LA Dodgers

Team President Stan Kasten was eager to address the media as he announced the game. Said Kasten, “No city, and no city’s fans have supported their team like Dodgers fans have. It’s been 9 straight years of leading baseball in attendance.”

There is some history to the occasion too. As the Dodgers last having hosted an all-Star game 42 years ago, the theme sets by itself. With Jackie Robinson and the iconic #42 breaking the color barrier 75 years ago, the opportunity presents itself naturally. “Just to be a part of it is special,” said the right fielder for the LA Dodgers and potential All-Star Mookie Betts.

The weekend is set to see various events, with some indoor activities being hosted at a nearby convention center. A celebrity game, the Home-run derby are now all staples of the All-Star celebration and will be continued this year too. Said Kasten, “In LA we are the city of big events and big parties and that’s what we’re gonna have in July. Five days of a big event and a big, big party.”

Dodger players appear excited to have their home stadium feature over the weekend. Said Justin Turner, “Really special obviously, I grew up in Southern California and this would be the first All-Star game that I ever see here. So we’re excited.”

With the pressure now firmly on Dodger Stadium to deliver, what do you think? Do you think they can make the most of the attention? Or do you think the extra attention could see the Dodgers stumble in their quest for a post-season run?
