Britain’s Got Talent fans think Amanda Holden is being antagonised by a fellow ITV star hiding behind the costume of The Witch.

The talent show has seen a flurry of acts appear in front of the panel already, and golden buzzers being offered up

As ever, the series has featured quite the variety of different contestants taking to the stage in the hope of winning the coveted Royal Variety Show slot and mega cash prize.

However, one act who left quite the impression was The Witch, who appeared from a puff of smoke before going over to terrify the judges.

‘Do you know why they say beauty’s only skin deep? Because we’re all rotten to the core,’ the auditionee told Amanda.

‘Because we’re all rotten to the core,’ she continued, cackling as a third hand appeared from her cloak and released crawlies onto the judges’ table.

The rest of the judges were left spooked by the figure, with Alesha Dixon running off from her seat in fear.

However, some fans think it could actually be hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly behind the costume, as they try to work out who might be hiding underneath the heavy prosthetics.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: ‘The Witch looks a bit like one of Ant & Dec’s Undercover disguises.’

‘Ya know how Ant and Dec Always look like Ant and Dec in ‘undercover’ even with all that makeup on… and nobody sees it’s them…  I’m getting pure Dec vibes off that witch!! #bgt,’ another commented.

The Witch was either @lemontwittor or @antanddec, someone else weighed in.

However, others have pointed out it surely couldn’t have been one of the Geordie duo, as they were seen backstage while the act was taking place.

One viewer said: ‘How can people think The Witch on Britain’s Got Talent is @antanddec ? Both were backstage during act and both commenting “I’m scared”’.

Another commented, alongside a screengrab from the episode: ‘From the show. Screenshot. Witch on stage and the boys saying “warning scary act”.

But as we all know, the power of telly can make anything happen…

It was a frightening act! (Picture: Thames/Syco/Rex/Shutterstock)

The pair are known for often donning disguises during the celebrity prank segments on Saturday Night Takeaway, so it certainly seems a possibility.

Elsewhere, fans have teased names such as Stephen Mulhern and Keith Lemon – with the latter also known for often dressing up in his programmes.

The pair starred opposite each other in the E4 series Mandy and Myrtle, where Keith dressed up as Amanda’s nan.

‘I was thinking Stephen Mulhern in disguise,’ and another added it’s ‘probably Stephen Mulhern [as] he’s a magician.’

‘@BGT the Witch was either @lemontwittor or @antanddec @itvtakeaway maybe Ant is plugging @imacelebrity and @AmandaHolden or @AleshaOfficial are to appear on there shows, Keith big fan of his shows but maybe there trying to get more air time 🤣🤣🤣 #BGT,’ someone agreed.

But who will be unveiled as the secret person behind the terrifying disguise? You’ll just have to wait and see.

Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV and the ITV Hub.
