‘I’m Playing With a Metal Hip’ – Andy Murray Has a Funny Answer to Facing Novak Djokovic Next at Madrid Open
Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have one of the most notable rivalries currently in men’s tennis. Their first meeting was in 2006 at the Madrid Open, with the Serb prevailing in three sets. Subsequently, they faced each other in some big tournaments. Further, the duo is one of the few who have played against each other in the finals of all the four Grand Slam tournaments.
To date, Djokovic and Murray have faced each other on 36 occasions on the tennis court, with Djokovic prevailing in 25 of those matches. The two players are currently in Spain, where they are participating in the Madrid Open. They are set to face each other in the third round. After his second-round victory, Murray opened up on facing Djokovic.

During the post-match interview after his second-round victory, the Briton talked about playing against Djokovic after a long time. Asked about his chances in the match, he said, “I mean, in theory, I have no chance in the match. You know, he’s obviously the Number 1 in the world and I’m playing with a metal hip so I shouldn’t have a chance in the match.”

Further, he added, “It’s a great opportunity for me to see where my game is at. And to play against him again, we’ve had so many great battles over the years in some of the biggest tournaments in the world. We’ve played in the finals, I think, of all the four Grand Slams.”

“We’ve played here in the finals and I haven’t had that opportunity to play against him for a long time and don’t know if I would ever get that chance. So, I’ll enjoy and have a fantastic attitude in the match, give it my best and see where I am at.”

Earlier, Djokovic brushed past Gael Monfils in the second round in straight sets. On the other hand, Murray had to dig deep against Denis Shapovalov in his second-round match to set up a clash against Djokovic. Their match will be held tomorrow.
