Kyle Larson’s Unfortunate Spin in Dover Reminded TJ Majors of Kyle Busch & Jimmie Johnson

In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, TJ Majors, the spotter of NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski, drew parallels between defending Cup champion Kyle Larson and seven-time champ Jimmie Johnson to further the point of the Dover race being good.

The moment that Majors picked to emphasize his point was Larson’s spin coming out of Turn 4, which saw him turn sideways as he screeched and saved his car from hitting the wall. The Hendrick Motorsports driver did manage to survive without big damage but had two blown tires.

Keselowski’s spotter revealed that he was “worried” about Dover being “a Martinsville on steroids,” that it’d be a race with low chances of passing. “But the groove moved. When the grooves move there, it is a great race track. The exits are narrow. There is a lot of room to get up,” he added.

“I mean, we saw Kyle Larson spin out. This reminded me of watching Kyle Busch back in the day, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Jimmie (Johnson)…coming up Turn 4 just broadside every lap, just driving it.”

“That’s what these guys were doing,” the spotter continued.

“And I saw the leaders, Ross (Chastain) and Chase (Elliott) race side by side for 3-4 laps, for the lead, just waiting for the little bit of slip-up,” he added. “The only thing I’d like to see a little more of would be the times fall off just a little bit more for the tires.”

Kyle Larson looking forward to voting with Chase Elliott for NASCAR HoF

It was recently announced that Hendrick’s star duo, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott will be casting their vote for next year’s NASCAR Hall of Fame. This was something that both the drivers expressed their excitement about, while also opening up on the big responsibility as well as a learning opportunity that it is.

“Chase and I are both on it this year, so maybe get to bounce some notes off of each other, but either way, it’s just a cool honor and something that I look forward to,” Larson said.

The defending champ opened up on the fact that there are a lot of people in the sport that he perhaps doesn’t know a lot about. “It’d be cool to be a fan and trying to learn about some of the people’s histories and what they’ve done on the race track as well as off the race track,” he added.
